Love Light Armor of God Part 4: Shoes

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.  Ephesians 6:15

The next piece of armor mentioned is the shoes.  Shoes are not only important for a soldier, but they are important in everyday life of everyday people.  We protect our feet with shoes, it’s a no brainier.  They protect us from glass, and other debris that may be all over the walkway.  Without your feet being protected, they would not be under you for very long.  Meaning you will not be standing your ground as you should be in your day to day life.  Running shoes are another example of good protection.  When you are running, your shoes need to be strong enough to help you keep your gate right or you could be looking at injury.  There are many ways our feet are protected when we wear shoes.  Paul was talking about protecting our walk.

Peace comes when good news is shared.  The good news that is spoken about here is the gospel of truth.  Jesus paying for our sins on the cross is that good news and how He gives us freedom.  If we protect our heart as we discussed last week, we will protect our walk.  Where we trod can make all the difference in our lives.  There are different aspects that I want to talk about with our walk.

The first way that we walk is whom we walk with.  When you are walking with someone, it is assumed that you probably know that person.  The type of people we surround ourselves with is an indication on our character.  There are people that are not going to bring peace into our lives.  They will cause drama and strife and will just take away from our lives and not give us peace.  People that can move us along in our walk and give us peace are the type of people to walk with.  They are encouraging and what I always call life-giving.  Your best testimony is your walk and how you present yourself with other people.

The next part of your walk is where you walk.  If you are consistently finding yourself in seedy places then your life is probably going to be filled with drama that you might not find desirable.  If you feel like trouble finds you all the time then maybe, you need to reconsider where you are walking.  Good news with peaceful walking is not that hard to find unless you don’t want to give up that old part of your life.  We find peace in our walk when we walk with the right people and walk in the right places.

The last part of walking is how we walk.  Just as in running, you have to have an appropriate gate to prevent injury; it is the same with walking.  We have to walk in balance in our lives.  I you are out of balance you will fall down flat on your face.  God wants us to have lives in balance.  Where we find this peaceful balance is with walking with the right people and walking in the right places.  Our right foot is walking with the right people; our left foot is walking in the right places.  Balance brings peace and peace brings good news.  The best way to share the good news of Jesus Christ is to live our lives the right way for Him.  Make our character His character.  We cannot do this ourselves, Jesus has to do it in our lives.  If we allow Him to, He will do amazing significant things in our lives.  We allow Him to do this when we are waking with the right people, and walking in the right places.  Protect your feet.
