The Essential 100 Day 99: Revelation 19 and 20: Three Easter Names Of The Holy Trinity

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself.13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.  He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:  king of kings and lord of lords. Revelation 19:11-16

How fitting that Easter falls on the day before I am about to wrap up this 100 days of blogging this Essential 100 Bible reading plan.  What a perfect set of verses to remind us how powerful Jesus really is.  What I also love about these verses is 3 words that stuck out like a beautiful tree in the middle of barren dessert and that is faithful and true.  Jesus is faithful and true.  Everything he spoke happened exactly as He said it would.  He is faithful in our lives, He never forsakes us.  When I hit rock bottom in my life Jesus was there to pick me up and dust me off.  When I go through difficult times He is there putting people in my path to encourage and to strengthen me.  He is so faithful and true.

He is also the Word Of God.  Every word Jesus spoke came into existence.  Every action Jesus did happened for a reason.  All the trauma and drama He went through for us paid the price for our sins.  As John said in the gospel, the word became flesh and dwelt among us.  All the old Testament prophesy came true and Jesus did it all.  He does it all today, He resurrects us daily and helps us go the second mile.  He rejuvenates us. It is through the Holy Spirit that He does this.  Jesus Holy Spirit is the word of God.

Because He did all this and was risen from the dead, He is King of kings and Lord of lords.  I will serve Him all the days of my life and into all eternity because of this very fact.  He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.  He is all that and more.  If there is anything I have learned in the last 99 days, it’s this:  That God loves us so much that He was willing to do anything no matter how crazy to show us that love.  He could have wiped us out with our sinful ways, but He didn’t.  He wiped Jesus out for us and raised Him back to life so that He can be King of kings and Lord of lords.  This is what Easter is all about.  This set of verses describes the triune God that we serve.  What an awesome, incredible, wonderful, amazing, super-powered, loving God we serve.
