The Essential 100 day 84: Philippians 4:2-9: Aim For Peace

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

Peace in the midst of turmoil sounds like a oxymoron.  It really isn’t.  You can have that kind of peace when you focus on the good things that are around you and not the negative.  The effect you can have on peoples lives is enormous.  My health problems due to obesity would still be here had it not been for one positive person that believed in me enough to start me down the path toward my own inner peace.  The testimony to that was the person was going through their own inner turmoil, but still focused on good and positive things God had for them.  This is the peace that surpasses all understanding.  That person was able to find healing in their life because they decided to focus all of their energy on another who needed a step up.  In this passage Paul is talking about having peace with our brothers and sisters and not allowing petty disputes to take us away from the love we should have for one another.  So when you are faced with turmoil or you find yourself in a petty dispute focus on the good things of God.  Be others focused because you never know, one day you may need a step up.
