26 As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.”27 So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship,28 and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. 29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.” Acts 8:26-29
This is the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. As I read this I thought wow, to be in-tune to the Spirit as Philip was would be awesome. The truth of the matter is we can be. As you can tell from the passage Philip knew the Holy Scripture because he heard the Eunuch reading from Isaiah. That tells me Philip was well read in the scripture. Remember the Bible they had at the time was just the old testament. When we focus our lives on God through His word we are more sensitive to the Holy Spirit that is living inside of us. He is our warning if we are doing something wrong, our comfort when we need to be comforted, our healer when we need to be healed. Don’t cut off your communication with God by not reading His word. You can do so many incredible things when you are in-tune with the Holy Spirit. Who knows maybe you will be taken away in a whirlwind like Philip was.
