37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”

This passage has three things happening, Jesus being arrested, Peter’s denial and Pilot asking a very important question, what is truth? If you think about it all of the situations here in this passage are dealing with truth. Jesus is basically arrested for sharing truth to the the people. Peter denies the truth when questioned if he was with Jesus. Pilot asks the question that the world needs to know the answer to. Truth is living up to moral convictions that God has placed on our hearts. Jesus said it so well, to love the lord our God with all our heart soul and mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves. It seems so simple, but yet it is so hard. Jesus set the standard for us all when He was faced with the cross. His love for us put Him on the cross to show us what truth really is. What the Pharisee’s learned about truth they did not want to face. They did not want a Messiah that was like Jesus. They were expecting a king to overthrow the Roman government at the time. The greatest truth Jesus shared with us was to love God and love people. When you can do that, you are well on your way to understanding what truth is.
