The Essential 100 Day 48: Daniel 6: Out Of The Comfort Zone Part II

10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.11 Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help. Daniel 6:10-11

Courage is doing the right thing at the moment, even though you are facing overwhelming odds.  Moments in time are all we have.  Daniel had his moment when he decided to pray and trust God instead of doing what the king decreed.  The bible makes it clear that Daniel was aware of the decree.  In fact he spent the time praying specifically for the decree that was given.  I’m not certain, but I think Daniel was thinking about all the favor God had showed him in the past.  He may have been thinking about his 3 cohorts that were thrown into the fire pit and did not get burned.  When outside of your comfort zone prayer is very important.  God can use the Holy Spirit to give you peace about your situation.  Not long ago I was faced with a with a scary horrific situation.  I could literally feel the Holy Spirit praying power over this situation and giving me the strength to overcome it.  God will not shy away when you are outside of your comfort zone.  When you are outside of it, that is when you don’t rely on yourself, but God.  Courageous acts only happen in a moment in time, and are always outside of our comfort zone.  It’s good to know, just as Daniel knew, that the Holy Spirit is there to shut the mouths of lions with whatever you may face.
