The Essential 100 Day 46: Isaiah 51, 52, and 53: The Final Sacrifice

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:5-6

This is one of my favorite passages of scripture.  It never fails to touch my emotions and make me realize what Jesus did for me.  What’s so cool is this was prophesied 500 years before Jesus was even born.  I picked these two verses out of the whole passage because they spoke to me the most.  Verse 5 talks about the beating He took for us.  He went through a violent death so that we could have peace in our lives.  His wounds also heal us.  Jesus took a bunch for us and we can be healed both pshycoligically and physically.  Verse 6 talks about how we all have messed up.  We are not perfect by any means possible.  God looks at us now as perfect and unblemished because Jesus took upon Himself our very mistakes.  If we can just understand a little bit of this great love that God has for us, it’s life changing.  We look at the whole world differently and love people a whole lot easier.  Take some time to reflect on this passage and ponder how great Jesus’ love was for us.  Unreal!!
