The Essential 100 Day 43: Psalm 103: Making the Weak Strong

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.  Psalm 103:1-6

This is one of the most awesome Psalms that I have ever read.  Just the first 6 verses are so encouraging to me.  It shows me that when you have a broken and contrite heart, God can make your weakness a strength. He can take the bad things that you have in your life and make them into good things.  He can take the worst thing you are going through and make it a brilliant inspiring testimony to His glory.  God can take  you out of the pit as we read in verse 4 and crown you with love and compassion.  5 says your youth will be renewed like an eagle.  How awesome is all of this?  The question I have is how can He do all of this?  If we allow Him to.  God’s miracles just don’t happen without some prayer, fasting and faithful bible study.  It’s not that God is holding these things back for us, but we are holding back our lives to God.  We wonder where God is when we are going through tough times, but really He is always there ready to bless us.  Sometimes we need to take steps of obedience to receive His blessings.  The whole point is that we will be praising God like David if we just take some small steps toward obedience.
