The Essential 100 Day 35: 2 Samuel 5, 6, and 7: A Dwelling For The Holy Spirit

12 Now King David was told, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.” So David went to bring up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing. 2 Samuel 6:12

This section of scripture focuses on the Ark of the Covenant.  Before the Holy Spirit came to dwell within us He was in the Ark of God.  I thought it was interesting that the house of Obed-Edom was blessed because he had the Ark there.  David was afraid to move the Ark after someone accidently touched it and God took him out.  We are blessed today to have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us if we accept Christ as our savior.  David did not have that luxury, in fact God placed it on the heart of Nathan the prophet to tell David to begin the preparation of building the temple to put the Ark into. I feel that we need to do the same thing, continuing building on our body temple.  We need to take care of it and make sure we put the right things in it.  If we want to be continually blessed with good health and a fresh outlook all the time.  Now, I am not saying you can’t be blessed if you have health issues, I’m just saying you will be more blessed if you plan ahead and take care of your body.  We all, if we are healthy both physically and spiritually, can be more prepared to do God’s work on this earth.  We are so blessed that we don’t have to send a priest in every year to the Holy of Holies and worry if he is going go come out alive.  We have our own body temple and we can either consecrate it for God or desecrate it.
