The Essential 100 Day 32: 1 Samuel 8, 9, and 10: Rejection

19 But you have now rejected your God, who saves you out of all your disasters and calamities. And you have said, ‘No, appoint a king over us.’ So now present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and clans.” 1 Samuel 10:19

As always we as humans have to see and touch something to really believe in it.  The senses are a very important part of us.  The reading today is about Israel rejecting God’s kingship over for a man to rule over them as king.  God loved His people so much He warned them what a king would do and they still wanted a king.  God showed His great love once again in knowing they were rejecting Him and gave them King Saul.  We do the same thing, we reject God when we do things in our own power.  God allows us to do these things because He is not the almighty puppet master.  Because He loves us so much there are no strings attached.  Israel wanted a figure head that they could see.  When we forget God and do things in our own power we can get burned out on them.  There is nothing more pleasing to the enemy than a bunch of overworked Christ followers that have families that are falling apart and relationships being hurt because of too much ministry.  God is not here to complicate our lives, He wants to simplify.
