7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7-9
This is a powerful section of scripture. I love that God says to Joshua in the passage three times to be strong and courageous. Because God says to be strong and courageous three times, gives it a very important place in hour lives. God wants us to be strong and courageous in our living. Now He is not looking for us to go our and kill some Philistines or anything like that, but to be strong and courageous in how we approach life. We have to be strong and courageous for God, ourselves and other people. Courage is not just charging up a hill ducking under the enemy’s bullets, although I admire and respect that very much. It’s also being in a trial, a season in your life where it may not be great, but you know you have a great big God behind you every step of the way. Faith is courage in action, and when you have faith, you have strength.
