2 The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.3 When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did,4 Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. Genesis 39:2-4
This is part two of the story of Joseph. Here Joseph finds himself being falsely accused of attempted rape. When in reality it was the other way around. This set of verses is all through this story. Joseph had God’s favor working for him. That is something not to be taken lightly or not acknowledged with gratitude. When God could have given up on me He didn’t. Joseph had strife in his life from other people, not himself. He did not put himself into all this mess, other people did. Sometime we put ourselves in our own mess by making poor choices in our lives. As children of God though, we have the favor of God on us. God does not allow us to stay in that messed up position, unless we allow ourselves to stay in that messed up position. I’m sure Joseph had his moments when he was wondering what is God up to in all this. I’m sure Joseph’s prayer life was very active. God allows these trials to happen to build character in us. So when the dream become a reality we can give Him all the glory. Today I am out of one of the biggest messes I have ever had in my life, but I don’t give myself credit, I give God the credit because He turned the bad to good in my life.
