19 “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other.20 “Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.” Genesis 37:19-20
Out of this reading I kept coming back to these two verses. If there is one thing I have learned in this life that I can pass on to people, is that dreaming is the most amazing thing you can do. I am not just talking about dreams we have in our sleep, but dreams we have about the future and plans or goals. When you are obedient and read God’s word everyday and pray you will find direction toward godly goals. Godly goals will happen no doubt about it. Joseph dreamed about the future and was scorned and hated for it by his brothers. One lesson to take from this passage is, share it with those you trust and that are for you. Hatred and jealousy are what was in Israel’s home because of his favoritism toward his son Joseph. Joseph’s brothers wanted to kill him and derail any chance that this dream may come true. What they didn’t realize was God was directing the steps to take the negative they did and allow Joseph to become what they really didn’t want. When you dream you will find people will try to do just that, derail or discourage you in anyway. They don’t want to see you succeed where they have so miserably failed. Always share your dreams with those that will encourage you and speak life into your dreams. The road may be rough at times, but godly encouraging people make the path smoother.
