8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” Gen. 3:8-9
These two verses are probably the saddest two verses in the Bible. The reason I say that, is very evident. Adam realized after he had sinned against God what the ramifications were. He lost fellowship with God. He and God would take a walk and talk about things. He had given up being holy and decided that knowing good from evil was what he needed. Satan told him a half truth, which are the most dangerous of all lies. The truth was he did die that day. He died to fellowship with a loving a merciful God that only wanted the best for him. God wanted him to choose correctly his destiny. God still loved Adam and Eve so much that He gave them mercy in allowing them to continue in existence. God knew the choice Adam would make and had a back up plan that would take centuries to unfold, but when it happened it would show us all how much God really loves His creation. Pslam 139 reminds us how much God loves us and cares about us. He could have started all over with a new creation, but He saved us and had a plan to redeem us. That plan was Jesus who was God in the flesh. That’s how much God loves us, He was willing to come down and pay the price for our own sins. How cool is that???
