Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7
I’m starting to do the Essential 100 reading plan for the next 100 days. Todays reading was Genesis chapters 1 and 2. I found this little gem of a verse toward the end of my reading and wanted to share some thoughts on it. I thought this verse said a whole lot about God and how we are as humans. It said that God breathed in man the breath of life. I am still focusing on my previous blog about how we need to be life-givers. God created us and is the ultimate life-giver is the first thought I have. Not only did He create us, but He breathed the breath of life into us. That same breath of life that we have can be a force for good or evil. What you say can help people along in this life, or it can hurt them greatly. I really think that the worst form of abuse is the things we say at the wrong moment, in the wrong place and to someone who probably needs encouragement instead of hatful things coming from that same breath that God gave you. We need to respect what God provided us with, the breath of life, and use it for His glory, not ours and not to be used as a weapon. So breath life-giving words and be encouraging. Don’t tear down, but build up.
